  1. SAVE BUTT VERSION 1.20 README
  2. -------------------------------------------------
  3. Several changes were added to Save Butt Version 1.20 prior to release
  4. which did not make it into the printed User's Manual or PDF file for 
  5. the manual.  They are outlined below in the section entitled "Changes
  6. Since the Manual was printed".  The Help system is current with the 
  7. release.
  8.  
  9. CHANGES SINCE THE MANUAL WAS PRINTED:
  10.  
  11. * The Include tab is now part of the normal view.
  12. * Add Applications and File Types was added to the Include tab.
  13. * The ability to delete files from the Save Butt File Locator was 
  14. added.

  16. GENERAL TIPS
  17.  
  18. **Tracking and Storing Files:
  19. If a file that you are interested in tracking with Save Butt is not 
  20. being tracked:
  21. *  Check to see that the application and file type for the file are 
  22. listed in the Include tab.  If not, use Add Application or Add File 
  23. Type to add them to the list.
  24.  
  25. If your file is still not being tracked, review your Drive 
  26. Preferences:
  27. 1.  Select the Drive Settings tab.
  28. 2.  Highlight the drive with the checkmark.
  29. 3.  Click the Drive Prefs... button.
  30. 4.  Make sure that the file you want to track does not exceed the 
  31. thresholds set in the Preferences screen.  If so, change your 
  32. preferences.

  34. Lastly, check the Exclude tab.  Is the file that you are trying to 
  35. track being saved into an Excluded directory?  If so, save the file 
  36. into a directory that is not listed in the Exclude tab.

  38. **Tracking Files
  39.  
  40. If you clear a checkmark for a filetype in the Include tab for one 
  41. application, Save Butt clears that file type for all other 
  42. applications in the Include tab.

  44. **Deleting Folders
  45.  
  46. If you delete a folder from Explorer, not all of the files may be 
  47. recoverable.  The files that will be recoverable are the files 
  48. that have the file types listed in the Include tab.
  49.  
  50. **File Size
  51. Save Butt defaults to 1MB as the maximum file size to save. Should 
  52. you want to track larger files, please change the drive preferences 
  53. from the Drive Settings tab.
  54.  
  55. **Restoring Groups of Files
  56. Certain applications, like Quicken, when you exit or "Save" create 
  57. a group of files, not just one file.  Quicken for example, upon 
  58. exiting, saves files of the type .qdb, .qel, .cfg, .qmd, .qsd, .gid,
  59. and .qdt.  Save Butt does not support group restores.  To restore 
  60. your group of files, you will have to restore each of the files 
  61. individually.

  63. **Sorting files
  64.  
  65. Sorting by columns from the Save Butt File Locator can be done from 
  66. any view in the pull down list except for  "I want to see my recently
  67. changed or deleted files".  The recently changed or deleted files 
  68. list is a pre-sorted list based on the date and time of the 
  69. modification or deletion.

  71. **Moving or Renaming Files
  72.  
  73. Save Butt considers a move or rename of files as deleted files.
  74.  
  75. KNOWN ISSUES:
  76.  
  77. **Super Disk or Zip drives 
  78.  
  79. If you have a Zip or SuperDisk drive as either an  A: or B: drive, 
  80. Save Butt will not use them as Target Drives.

  82. **Floppy Drives
  83.  
  84. Save Butt will not use a floppy drive as a Target drive nor will it
  85. tracks changes or deletions for files on floppy diskettes.
  86.  
  87. **Rescan
  88. If any application or file type has been disabled from the Save Butt 
  89. Include tab, upon Rescanning, Save Butt will detect those disabled 
  90. applications and file types as "New" applications and file types.  
  91. A message is displayed stating that X New File types and X New
  92. Applications have been found.
